Jennifer & Andrew | Scrub Hill Wedding Documentary Film
‘Everyone loves the video! It's so lovely to have this keepsake of friends and family. The add on of super 8 was the cherry on top and they were so great editing it into a documentary style that makes me feel like we’re right back in it again. Our first dance was so beautifully done and I'm glad I trusted the process!’
Jennifer and Andrew celebrated their initiate, emotionally rich wedding at Scrub Hill in Newlyn, near Daylesford, Victoria. Set amongst forest surrounds and soft countryside light, their day was gentle, romantic, and deeply personal, making it a beautiful fit for a documentary-style wedding film that focused on emotion, atmosphere, and storytelling.
The Venue
Located in Newlyn near Daylesford, Scrub Hill is an enchanting wedding venue defined by its natural surroundings and quiet charm. Jennifer and Andrew exchanged vows in the forest ceremony space, surrounded by towering trees that added to the sense of intimacy and calm. The nearby stone church and open cocktail hour area provided a timeless backdrop for portraits, while the clear-walled marquee, filled with fairy lights and set in an open field, created a creamy reception setting as the evening unfolded.
The Couple
Jennifer and Andrew are warm, gentle, and deeply connected. Their love is expressed in subtle moments, soft glances, and the way they speak to one another. Throughout the day, there was quiet sincerity between them that made every moment feel intentional and heartfelt.
The Wedding
The day began at The Station House in Daylesford, where both Jennifer and Andrew prepared before sharing a private first look in the garden. The vintage home, lush greenery, and antique foundation created a romantic and timeless setting for this moment. Their ceremony was graceful and moving, with vows that were tender, thoughtful, and deeply emotional. As the celebration continued into the evening, guests gathered beneath the fairy-light-filled marquee at Scrub Hill, where the atmosphere felt both elegant and joyfully relaxed.
The Video
The newlyweds chose a documentary approach for their wedding film, with a cinematic feel that allowed the story to unfold naturally. I was intentional about keeping the edit engaging and emotionally immersive, using multiple camera angles alongside Super 8 footage to create a timeless, layered narrative. Rather than lingering on every moment, I shaped the film to flow with energy, weaving together quieter scenes with joyful celebrations. One of my favourite parts of the edit was building their portraits around their vows, allowing the visuals and words to work together and draw the viewer deeper into their story. The final wedding documentary film was emotive, refined, and deeply personal, reflecting the tenderness of their day.
